Murphy Anderson Settles Lawsuit for Victim of Tip Theft
August 22, 2025
Murphy Anderson represented a District of Columbia restaurant worker in a wage-theft case alleging tip theft.
The worker alleged that the restaurant regularly stole a percentage of his tips. He also alleged that the restaurant sometimes failed to pay him any hourly wages aside from the tips. Our client alleged that these illegal practices entitled him to unpaid wages and quadruple damages under DC law.
The settlement forced the employer to end the allegedly unlawful practices and otherwise resolved the dispute. David Rodwin and Mark Hanna of Murphy Anderson co-counseled with Justin Zelikovitz and Jonathan Tucker of the Law Office of Justin Zelikovitz on the case.
