Murphy Anderson Settles Cutting-Edge Accent Discrimination Case

September 10, 2013

Murphy Anderson PLLC announces that it settled an accent discrimination case on behalf of a professional employee who was terminated for allegedly not being able to communicate because of an Asian accent, even though she passed every objective test given to her of English proficiency.

The defendant paid a six-figure judgment to settle claims in the employment discrimination case, which was filed under the DC Human Rights Act.

Joni S. Jacobs and Michelle Woolley litigated the case with assistance from George R. Murphy Fellow Donna McKinnon.
