Michael Anderson and Mark Hanna Speak at ABA Conferences

April 8, 2016

Michael T. Anderson spoke at the ABA's National Symposium on Technology in Labor and Employment Law in Washington, D.C., on April 8, 2016. Michael's paper, "When You Gaze Into the Abyss, the Abyss Gazes Into You, The Unintended Consequences of Data Analytics", argues that employer's use of computerized analytics is a double-edged sword. While big data gives employers unprecedented power to track and analyze workers, it also makes the employer's own thinking transparent, and subject to discovery, proof and attack under anti-discrimination law.

Mark Hanna was a panelist discussing whistleblower and retaliation issues at the ABA's National Conference on Equal Employment Opportunity Law in Austin, Texas, on March 31, 2016. The panel focused on administrative action by the SEC, NLRB and EEOC against overbroad and restrictive release and confidentiality language in settlement agreements and handbooks.
