Mark Hanna weighs in on independent contractor rule
When political parties exchange the presidency, policies change. On January 6, 2021, the Trump administration finalized a proposed rule to allow more misclassification of workers, particularly “gig” workers. President Biden promised to roll back that new rule during his campaign, and on January 20 that rule and many others were halted pending review by the Biden Department of Labor.
Mark Hanna commented on this back-and-forth in a BloombergTax.com article.
“There’s hope in a Biden administration that they could do more widespread enforcement. You can look at any industry and see large swaths of employees classified as independent contractors for no good reasons,” Hanna was quoted in the article.
Murphy Anderson is active in fighting employer misclassification of workers, representing thousands of workers across many industries over the last decade.
