Nicolas Mendoza Elevated to Partner

We are pleased to announce that Nicolas Mendoza has become a partner of Murphy Anderson PLLC, effective today.
Nicolas represents whistleblowers under the federal and state False Claims Acts and the SEC and IRS whistleblower programs, focusing on healthcare fraud, procurement fraud, and wage theft on construction projects.
Nicolas represented a False Claims Act whistleblower who exposed one of the largest frauds on the Paycheck Protection Program and Economic Injury Disaster Loan program, committed at the height of the Covid pandemic. The case resulted in a $20 million judgment for the government. He also brought a case alleging that a business owner fraudulently obtained contracts set aside for businesses owned by economically disadvantaged individuals by misrepresenting her wealth. The case settled for $7.7 million.
Nicolas is active in The Anti-Fraud Coalition (TAF) and has written several articles and recorded videos for TAF on False Claims Act enforcement. He regularly presents on whistleblower law at TAF conferences, National Employment Lawyers Association conferences, and other employment and labor law conferences.
Nicolas joined Murphy Anderson in 2018. He earned his J.D. from Harvard Law School and his B.A. from Wesleyan University. During law school, he interned with the Department of Justice's Civil Frauds Section. Before law school, he worked as a paralegal and case investigator at a False Claims Act whistleblower firm. He grew up in Santiago, Chile, and speaks Spanish fluently.
"Making Nicolas a partner reflects what he already does here: he develops cases, leads them, and mentors younger lawyers," said Mark Hanna. "His work is at the nexus of our whistleblower, wage theft, and union labor practices. Companies that cheat workers out of wages often cheat the government too. We see False Claims Act cases as a way to right those wrongs and promote good government."
