Jamin B. Raskin

Jamie Raskin is of counsel to the firm, a professor of constitutional law at American University's Washington College of Law, and a Democratic State Senator in Maryland representing Silver Spring and Takoma Park. He serves on the Maryland Senate's Judicial Proceedings Committee.

Jamie, who assists on complex constitutional litigation, has been an active constitutional and First Amendment lawyer. His clients have included Rev. Jesse Jackson, SEIU, Greenpeace, Ross Perot, Cindy Sheehan, tenants facing eviction and high school students facing censorship. He was the first Chairman of Maryland's Higher Education Labor Relations Board and, in that capacity, wrote the rules under which 18,000 workers on campus joined unions and achieved collective bargaining.

Jamie is the bestselling author of Overruling Democracy: the Supreme Court vs. The American People (2003) and We the Students (3rd ed. 2008).

Jamie has been beating Michael Anderson in chess since they roomed together their freshman year of college.
